Utah: Day 2: Golden Spike!

We couldn't very well go on a trip with out visiting a National Monument! Golden Spike was the place, we drove 2 hours out of SLC to see it. Boy was it COLD!!!! Not to mention desolate, there had not been visitors at this site for 2 whole days! Not very popular I guess.  This is where the Union and Central Pacific railroads united back in 1869. There were a few actual "golden spikes" driven to mark the union. They were later removed or stolen. Some are in museums across the USA. Something I have learned from visiting national monuments is that, it doesn't matter if the site isn't very interesting or if it is cold, or took 5 hrs to reach, it is always fun because we are together as a family! I love my family!
